Over the past few years Landmarc have been involved with a number of heathland restoration projects on a nationwide basis.
Carrying a wide range of our own equipment enables us to work quickly, efficiently and with minimum impact on the environment in which we are working. Each project will have its own specific challenges and with ever increasing experience, we have created solutions to overcome these obstacles.
Due to the nature of the projects, the majority of the time burning is not an option. All material has to be removed from site. Therefore we have developed a disciplined regime to provide the client with a clean, tidy and environmentally friendly result. The Landmarc ethos is to recycle 100% of the material dealt with on site.
For this project in Surrey, Landmarc were required to clear 21 Hectares of woodland in order to restore the area to its natural heathland state. All of our excavators are fitted with timber grabs, tree shears and saws to enable the team to clear and tidy the landscape efficiently. We were able to dispose of all felled timber as saw logs, chipping for biomass or firewood.
The photograph examples below show a heathland restored to its natural state just a short time after Landmarc completed their works. Many different species of wildlife were observed returning to the area.
