Mulching
Mulching is the mechanical clearing of trees (up to 12” in diameter) and scrub, gorse, bramble and general brash.
All growth is reduced to ground level to allow for replanting, redevelopment, or the re-establishment of grassland.
Excavator, tractor and skid steer mounted equipment is used allowing for a variety of applications. For example the skid steer is a high flow machine allowing it to deal with 8” material. Its compact size together with its manoeuvrability enables it to work within woodlands yet beneath low canopies. With a working height of only 7 ft and an overall width of 6ft, this machine proves to be both fast and efficient.
We also use long reach excavators fitted with swinging hammer flail mulchers which copes with material up to 6”. We have found this is the ideal solution for clearance work on steep inaccessible gradients, dams and railway embankments. For controlled hedge trimming we use a circular clearing saw fitted with a tilt-rotator attachment as seen in some of the photographs below.
